These unconventional glasses are fashioned by Czech masters from a pure extrusion of hand-blown glass. Liquid appears to float from one glass to the next, the variations serving as hallmarks of the artistry of each individual tube.

Go from hot to cold, microwave to freezer and dishwasher. The high-quality borosilicate glass can take it. Felicia Ferrone created fferrone in 2009 as a design and research practice, from products to architecture. Besides many awards, she also teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

I’ve always known I wanted to work for myself, and I always knew I wanted to be in some kind of design director role," says the founder of Fferrone. “It really wasn’t until the Revolution Collection of glassware that it finally happened. It allowed me the opportunity to figure out all the ‘moving parts’… that couldn’t be done well while working for someone else.” For Chicago’s Felicia Ferrone, that followed an initial stint as an architect in Milan working under notables such as Antonio Citterio and Piero Lissoni.

Minimalist contours, an unwavering attention to detail and an often whimsical sensibility characterize the designer’s much-awarded work, both for her own company and for clients such as Boffi, Volume Gallery and Covo. “I knew I also wanted to be free to pursue design with established brands along with more self-directed work,” adds Felicia, “and having my own studio allows me that freedom of choice.”
