The ceramic frame of this statement mirror by Atipico is meticulously handworked by skilled craftsman before its bathed in a colored varnish. The silver-plated crystal provides an impactful punch to this mirror, its name translating as ring of rose. You be the rose. Made by Atipico, Girotondo was designed by designers Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno of the Venetian-based Studio Zaven. The duo seek out graphic statements in their explorations of materials and nature in products as far ranging as bottles and bags to lighting and furniture.
“We stand out for continuous research on materials,” says Gianluca Corbari, co-founder with his brothers Enrico and Maurizio and creative director of Atipico. “But also the traditional ones like wood, iron and ceramics, reinterpreted with a contemporary language. We’re trying to bring out the soul of the materials.”
The upstart Milan-based brand proudly labels its offerings “strictly made in Italy” and works with many designers who seek out the company for its passion for design. Young talents like Federico Angi, Fabio Meliota, Antonino Sciortino, Carlo Trevisani and Zaven “know about historical techniques and Italian productive culture,” says Corbari. “I ask them to find that detail, that extra stroke that makes the difference, but without making a product that is over-designed.”
