DESCRIPTION

It's always cocktail hour somewhere and with the Mai Tai Trolley, we say bring it on! Configured with 2 lift-off wood trays for potables and barware, the trolley's design is an exercise in geometric shapes, with cylindrical casters, rectangular frame and angular supports holding the topmost tray. Something to contemplate, no doubt, while lifting a glass to Odosdesign, the Valencia-based studio of young Spanish talents Luis Calabuig, MarĂa Mengual and Ana Segovia. Fully manufactured in Spain by Punt.

ABOUT THE BRAND: PUNT

PUNT

Get the Punt? Founded in Valencia back in in 1980, the company name means “point.” The Punt (formally Puntmobles) credo philosophizes that “a point is the beginning of a line” and the Spain-based modernist furniture concern has indeed brought forth a long line of artful products in collaboration with designers such as Terence Woodgate, Odosdesign and Vincent Martinez. Along the way, the company has been recognized with numerous awards from the likes of Wallpaper magazine and others. “The points from Punt that go to make up our collection are practically infinite,” they say. “Many of these 'punts' are happy encounters, happy discoveries; others are still searches, seeking serendipity.”

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: ODOSDESIGN

ODOSDESIGN

“We view the design of new products as an ongoing daily process, as a reflection on the different lifestyles,” say  Luis Calabuig, Maria Mengual and Anna Segovia. The trio behind Odosdesign, they believe in long-lasting design values that aren’t dictated by passing trends. The trio met as students at the University of Valencia and, after working individually at various firms, formed their multi-disciplinary studio in 2005. Not only do they create products but they “communicate them,” with their own graphic design and art direction. “Being a studio, creativity is in the air,” they say, “and different starting points lead to results that have much in common.”
