Cold cast concrete is juxtaposed with cozy fabric-covered wires in this minimalist light designed and produced in Los Angeles by Wrk-Shp. The dark grey 15-foot-long wire can be plugged directly into a U.S. wall outlet. Hook it off the wall with the enclosed Wall Cleat, also by Wrk-Shp, made of Maple wood with 2 brass screws. Swing it down from the ceiling. Or lay it on a table.
Wrk-Shp is the multi-disciplinary dynamic duo Ryan Upton and Airi Isoda. The downtown L.A.-based couple riffed on calling their boutique brand "workshop" because, they said, "we like to create stuff." Together, Ryan, an architect, and Airi, an architect-turned-fashion designer, are designing interior products, clothing and accessories with a point of view that considers minimalism, details and challenging expectations (case in point, the cotton tote bags and zippered envelopes dipped in latex paint and the concrete hanging planters that A+R is also thrilled to stock). Airi draws on her time split between Tokyo and Los Angeles, as well as a lifetime lived in 6 countries. In Ryan, she found her match both aesthetically and in his own life lived on all three coasts of the United States. We think they're the bee's knees.
