Dare we say that this is one item that’s made an absolute splash at planet A+R? It’s true!
The aptly named Dropp! Bowl is everything we love about modern design. For starters, it’s functional, made from food-safe silicone. Drop fruit, pasta salad or bread rolls in it. Or forget the grub entirely and use it to contain keys, coins, yarn spools, balls...whatever needs a home.
We’re big believers in those first three letters in FUNctional, and this bowl definitely elicits a smile from everyone who sees it in our two stores and in our home. No wonder it’s become one of our best-selling items for gift giving.
Designer Niels Römer was inspired by the visual of a splash of paint fixed in a split moment when he designed this dishwasher-safe bowl for his fellow Danes at Menu (he even considered the packaging, opting for a reusable bag instead of a box).
In neon pink or lime, this bowl is a pop of Pop Art.
In white, we think it brings to mind Harold Edgerton’s sublime 1957 photograph, “Milkdrop Coronet.”
Like art, a bowl is all about what you put into it.

"It's about creating aesthetically pleasing designs that evoke true feelings,” Menu founder Bjarne Hansen told the online magazine Lonny, “as well as improving processes in people's daily lives.” Ranging from tabletop objects to bath fixtures to lighting and furniture, the Danish brand’s pursuit of "soft minimalism" involves collaborations with designers from all over the world. The company’s guiding spirit is a quest for functional originality—with each product having either a new purpose, incorporating a new material or utilizing a new production method.

Menu is just as dedicated to responsible manufacturing as it is innovation. Working to locate new partners in developing countries around the world, the company searches out local factories or small private co-operations to turn out high quality goods and also provide a better economic foundation for the people involved in that production. "We’re passionate about design, new materials and clever details," say the folks at Menu, "and we dream about making a difference."
