Miniature Concrete Planter: Truss
For builders, mortar is the stuff that binds the blocks of a building. For Nobuhiro Sato, it’s the stuff that brings his unorthodox concepts into being. With the Truss Planter, he considers a new use for an abandoned building (complete with exposed steel)—as home for a living plant. The windows in the series provide a second use as a candle holder.
Sato established his studio Pull+Push in 2002 with the goal of “pulling and pushing new ideas in and out.” The Kyoto Seika grad studied design in construction in the fine arts department there. Today, he plays with notions of architecture—in this case, literally, buildings—to create lifestyle design accessories.
