Energy-Saving Pig Lamp
Consider this lamp money in the bank. Mexican designer Ariel Rojo got the bright idea to combine two universal symbols of saving: the piggy bank and the corkscrew bulb.
In this case, the savings come not in coins (this only looks like a piggy bank) but in the savings in energy bills and the environment by switching on this witty, eco-minded ceramic lamp. Likewise, in the message it sends to anyone within eyesight of it!
Humor, conscience and responsibility are among the qualities that motivate the founder and team of the Ariel Rojo Design Studio. As a young student at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), then-17-year-old Ariel began designing mother boards for oil platforms and other electronic fields. Four years later, he was part of the winning team remodeling the famed Zocalo in Mexico City, among the three biggest squares in the world. He even received an individual mention for the design of the urban furniture. His multistage and multidisciplinary work can now be seen worldwide.
