Y'a Pas Le Feu Au Lac & FX Balléry's
Les Perles Candleholder
This is one way to play with fire. Move and modify the hornbeam "pearls" according to whim.
For these candleholders, designer FX Balléry tapped the broad tradition of wooden toys in Jura, an idyllic swath of the Alps that serves as the inspiration for the studio he and wood turners Grégory and Marie Bodel founded as Y'a Pas Le Feu Au Lac. The name is based on a popular French phrase that loosely translates as "no need to hurry." Like life there, the YPLFL Collection calls for taking time to smell the flowers, or in this case, hornbeam, which is a kind of beech wood.
"Through this project," says FX, "I wanted to speak to the the simple and childlike pleasure of stringing beads."
