Y'a Pas Le Feu Au Lac & FX Balléry's
FX Balléry considers the dichotomy between thick and fine, stark and gloss, and hard and fragile with this joined trio of individual vases. Inspired by a simple stack of wood, each thick cylinder stands on a fine point. Beech wood cylinders are banded in glossy lacquer. Each "stake" contains a glass tube to hold water.
The Pik Vase is part of the modern craft collection by the trio behind France's Y'a Pas Le Feu Au Lac, a popular phrase that loosely translates as "no need to hurry." Wood turners Grégory and Marie Bodel connected with designer FX Balléry on a love of wood and their ties to the Alps' Jura Mountains. Like life there, the YPLFL Collection calls for taking time to smell the flowers, or in this case, the beech wood.
