Sempli & Daniele Semeraro's
There is nothing flat about it. The pointed base of these wine and spirit glasses means tipple is tipped like a top. But this also has a practical function, found designer Daniele Semeraro, as the swirling rotation of the glass on a table allows oxygenation—as well as the fragrance of the liquid inside to pervade. The concept was born when Daniele was living in Florence a decade ago. The Swedish-expat found the joy in the experience of good wine, especially when served in the right glass. To him, the glass stem was superfluous both aesthetically and technically. Likewise when it comes to spirits. Thus Cupa was born. The series is hand produced in Italy by seasoned glass blowers from the purest glass—no lead or lead oxide, with sustainability in mind.
Serve Cupa on the specially designed trays, crafted from walnut. Just set each Cupa on a hole. Or get the coasters, each one slotted to keep Cupa in place. Glasses are beautifully boxed in a green and black box also thoughtfully designed by Daniele, whom we met when he popped into our Venice store—not long after following his heart and relocating from Italy to nearby Santa Monica. A toast all around!
